How to pause and resume syncing in OneDrive app in Windows 11

The OneDrive app is a cloud storage app where your files are automatically stored if the sync option is enabled. The OneDrive app allows users to store their data up to 5GB for free and up to 1TB of data if they have subscribed to Microsoft 365. Some of the users currently use it for free and the rest, others are subscribed to Microsoft 365 In order to avoid overloading OneDrive storage with unnecessary files, we can pause syncing in the OneDrive app and resume syncing when we really need to store some important files. How to pause syncing in the OneDrive app in Windows 11

Step 1: Go to the taskbar and look for the OneDrive icon. If it’s missing, click the up arrow button and look for the OneDrive icon in the system tray.

Step 2: Then click OneDrive application and select Help and setup at the bottom of the app as shown below.

Step 3: click Pause sync from the list of options in Help & Settings of the OneDrive app as shown in the following screenshot.

Step 4: Then select any length of time (2 hours, 8 hours or 24 hours) from the list under Pause sync to pause file syncing in the OneDrive app as shown below.

Step 5: After clicking the length of time in Pause syncing, OneDrive will immediately pause syncing the file.

How to resume syncing in OneDrive app in Windows 11

Step 1: Go to the taskbar and look for the OneDrive icon. If it’s missing, click the up arrow button and look for the OneDrive icon in the system tray.

Step 2: Then click OneDrive application and select Help and setup at the bottom of the app as shown below.

Step 3: click Resume syncing option from the Help & Settings list in the OneDrive app as shown in the following screenshot.

Step 4: Wait until it connects to the internet and starts syncing again.

Step 5: Once done, it will show that OneDrive is up to date as shown below.
