It means that the message has been sent successfully. It has already been “uploaded” or has reached the Internet, to the WhatsApp servers. This also means that WhatsApp is working correctly (the service has not fallen, as it has already happened several times) and obviously your Internet connection and the application are fine.

However, the message has not yet “downloaded” from the Internet or has reached the other phone (or other cell phones, if it is a group). This may be because the other person has no connection or also that they have blocked you in the application, although it can be very hasty to deduce this and you have to investigate a little more here.

The double gray check mark in WhatsApp means that the message has ALREADY been received on the other cell phone (or other cell phones, if it is a group). Since the message is already on the other phone, you can be sure that you are NOT blocked.

However, even though the message has arrived, It is probable that has not yet been seen or read. I say “likely” because it cannot be guaranteed that the other person did not see the message. By READ means that the person has opened the conversation and seen the message itself, both necessary for the blue checks to activate.
