Top modern video cards are not very accessible to a simple player, so we decided it was time to look at slightly older cards. We offer you a review of the Afox GeForce GTX 750 Ti video card with 4 GB of 128-bit GDDR5 memory.
Of course, we have tested enough cards of this generation in our time, and today our interest is to find out if the old budget solutions will allow us to pass the games of 2020-2021. The model under consideration has a small cooler with two fans, occupies two expansion slots and has no backlight, and most importantly, it costs about 15 thousand rubles at the time of preparation of the review. To connect monitors, there is a relatively modern HDMI 1.4 video output, as well as d-Sub (VGA) and DVI-D that are of little interest today.

Memory
The Afox GeForce GTX 750 Ti card has 4 GB of GDDR5 SDRAM placed in 4 x 8 Gb chips on the front side of the PCB. SKhynix memory chips (GDDR5, R2C) are designed for a conditional nominal operating frequency of 1350 (5400) MHz.
Card features and comparison with the reference Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050
The reference Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card has 2 power phases (1 phase for the memory chips and 1 for the GPU), while the Afox GeForce GTX 750 Ti 4 GB card has 3 (1 phase for the memory chips and 2 for the GPU).
Let’s take a closer look at the Afox video card without a cooling radiator below. yellow color marked one phase memory chips, and green – 2 phases of the power supply of the graphics core, and on the same side we have a blue PWM controller that controls all three phases.
PWM controller 81172 (uPI Semiconductor) controls all power phases.
The power converter uses stacks of transistors NKO PD636BA And A3006rated for a maximum current of 36 A.
Additional power is not required, a PSU of 300 W is recommended.
Heating and cooling
The cooling of the Afox GeForce GTX 750 Ti 4 GB video card is active: two 90 mm fans mounted on a relatively small aluminum radiator that cools only the GPU. The card has plenty of such cooling, it is quiet, you can not turn off the computer at all.
Temperature monitoring using the MSI Afterburner utility:
After a 2-hour run under load, the maximum core temperature did not exceed 69 degrees, which is a very good indicator.
Noise
The noise measurement technique implies that the room is soundproofed and muffled, reverberations are reduced. The system unit, in which the noise of video cards is being investigated, does not have fans, and is not a source of mechanical noise. The background level of 18 dBA is the noise level in the room and the noise level of the sound level meter itself. Measurements are taken from a distance of 50 cm from the video card at the level of the cooling system.
Measuring modes:
- Idle mode in 2D: Internet browser loaded with iXBT.com, Microsoft Word window, a number of Internet communicators
- 2D mode with movie viewing: using SmoothVideo Project (SVP) – hardware decoding with insertion of intermediate frames
- 3D mode with maximum load on the accelerator: FurMark test is used
The estimation of noise level gradations is as follows:
- less than 20 dBA: conditionally silent
- 20 to 25 dBA: very quiet
- from 25 to 30 dBA: quiet
- 30 to 35 dBA: clearly audible
- 35 to 40 dBA: Loud but bearable
- above 40 dBA: very loud
At idle in 2D, the temperature was no higher than 26.9 ° C, the fans gave out 33% of their speed, the noise was 27.9 dBA, which is quiet.
In the maximum load mode in 3D, the temperature reached 69 ° C. At the same time, the fans spin up by 39%, the noise rises to 29.0 dBA, which is also quiet. Thus, the card produces almost the same noise level in all conditions.

Test results in 3D games
Testing was carried out only in Full HD resolution, there is no point in tormenting accelerators of this class with higher resolutions. What’s more, older graphics cards like the GeForce GTX 750 Ti can’t handle modern games at 1080p even at the lowest quality settings – sometimes you can only dream of 30 FPS. As a result, we tested the Afox GeForce GTX 750 Ti and several other video cards of the same level in Full HD at two or three quality settings, and modern video cards taken for comparison were tested only at maximum quality.

We took several specially tested budget video cards for presentation in the ratings and added the GeForce RTX 2060 and GeForce GTX 1650 to them as a guide. It is clear that the long-released video cards did not even suspect Ray Tracing technology, so the rating is based on tests without RT.
The rating is based on one Full HD resolution, but for different quality settings.

Utility Rating of the same cards is obtained if the indicator of the previous rating is divided by the prices of the corresponding accelerators. To calculate the utility rating, conventional retail prices were used at the end of January 2022.

The Afox video card, as expected, only in a couple of games pulls out 30 FPS in Full HD resolution at the lowest graphics settings, which can be considered the lower limit of conditional playability. Alas, with such a performance, it is completely uninteresting, and its formal price-performance ratio is the lowest among the tested models. Sometimes it’s better for the dead to stay in the ground.
conclusions
Due to the shortage of modern video cards of at least some high level, the resumption of production of inexpensive video cards has become very important.
However, the study showed that the Afox GeForce GTX 750 Ti (4 GB) will not allow you to play complex modern games even in Full HD resolution at the lowest graphics settings. It is difficult to think of a scenario for which such a card can be purchased today. Unless to replace a dead card in some very old computer, when there is absolutely no money, and a new system unit, albeit with good integrated graphics, will cost more than such a video card. In principle, this will allow you to somehow play old games with modest graphics and at a reduced resolution. Also, the card will allow you to run modern games to get acquainted with the atmosphere and decide on further modernization of the gaming power of the computer – when it becomes within your budget.
