GTX1060 6GB GPU mining Overclocking: Hashrate|Power| Benchmark (Cash Cow)

Overclocking settings – Cudo Miner

Overview

Cudo Miner now supports individual GPU overclocking settings for each mining algorithm. This means that when it automatically switches to the most profitable coin, it also applies your custom settings to your GPUs to maximize hashing speed or maximum power efficiency.

Disclaimer! We do not recommend overclocking as it can damage your hardware and void your warranty. Before overclocking your device, make sure you fully understand what your GPUs are capable of and what each setting does.

Any overclocking setting will apply to all discrete GPUs in the system, so overclocking settings with different GPU models (for example, setting with GTX 1060 and GTX 1080) may give unexpected results

Overclocking is currently available for the following platform configurations:

  • Nvidia Windows
  • AMD Windows
  • Nvidia Linux
  • AMD Linux

How it works

When you enable overclocking on the Cudo Miner settings page, the new parameters will appear in the advanced settings section.

The following options are available:

  • Core clock offset
  • Memory clock offset
  • Fan speed
  • Power limit

Additionally, Cudo Miner offers:

  • AMD Windows Large Pages
  • AMD Bios Firmware

If you enter overclocking values for a specific workload and click Save, Cudo Miner will run a test and try to apply these values to all of your devices. You will be able to see the received hash rate in the test history.

When Cudo Miner tries to set the overclocking parameters, they may be set exactly, a similar value may be overridden, or the value may not be set at all. Therefore, it is important to respect the reported clock offsets and power limits on the GPU monitor.

Overclocking values are only applied when a particular algorithm is running, and when it finishes, Cudo Miner will try to apply your default GPU settings.

If you have not entered overclocking values for a specific algorithm, Cudo Miner will not attempt to set any overclocking settings when running the algorithm.

Cudo Miner tries to apply your chosen settings in a state of maximum performance for your GPU. Your GPUs will automatically switch to peak performance state while mining.

Nvidia Windows

Core clock offset

Add or subtract this value from the default GPU core frequency to determine the clock speed for maximum performance. The maximum and minimum displacements are shown in the Cudo Miner.

Memory clock offset

Add or subtract this value from the default GPU memory frequency to determine the clock speed at maximum performance. Maximum and minimum offsets are shown in Cudo Miner.

Power limit

Set the power consumption limit as a percentage (was previously in watts), typically Nvidia GPUs have a range of 100 to 250 watts.

Most cards have a percentage of 50% to 110%.

Note:
Cudo Miner may need to be run as root / Admin user to apply power limits.

Fan speed

Set the target fan speed as a percentage. Typically GPUs have a range of 25% to 100%.

Optimizing memory

GPU memory optimization adjusts memory sync settings in an attempt to improve hashrate. Each GPU in the computer is analyzed and the best timings are applied for each card individually. The increase in performance can vary significantly depending on the model. In addition, existing overclocking settings such as memory clock offset may need to be adjusted to maintain stability.

Note: Cudo Miner must be run as root / Admin, Nvidia GTX 1080, GTX 1080Ti, GTX 1070, GTX 1060 cards are supported.

AMD Windows

Core clock offset

Add or subtract this value from the default GPU core frequency to determine the clock speed for maximum performance. For most GPUs, this is performance state 7. The maximum and minimum offsets are shown in Cudo Miner.

Memory clock offset

Add or subtract this value from the default GPU memory frequency to determine the clock speed for maximum performance. The maximum and minimum displacements are shown in the Cudo Miner.

Power limit

Set the power consumption limit as a percentage, for most drivers the range is -50% to + 50%, although newer drivers may allow for -75% to 75%.

Fan speed

Set the target fan speed as a percentage. Typically GPUs have a range of 25% to 100%.

Note: Cudo Miner must be run as root / Admin, Vegas sees the biggest improvement here

Large Pages / Calculation Mode

Larges Pages enables compute mode for AMD GPUs. This means they perform better when mining cryptocurrency, often doubling the hash rate. However, if you want to play games with your GPU, it’s best to turn it off while playing.

Note. The RX series cards see the biggest improvement here, the setting does not apply to Vegas.

Bios flashing

Supports RX 580 only due to driver signature issues. If the card is determined to be potentially faulty or will not flash safely, it will not appear. The instrument will not forcibly reprogram the card.

Note: Cudo Miner must be run as root / Admin user. Linux firmware is more likely to be successful. For advanced users only, as this may block the GPU (this can be overridden but requires a high level of technical knowledge). Can be combined with memory optimization.

Nvidia Linux

GeForce GTX 1060 – Graphics Card Overclocking

Overclocking the graphics card

Traditional overclocking. As many of you know, with most graphics cards, you can apply a number of simple tricks to slightly improve overall performance.

You can usually adjust the core clock and voltage. By increasing the frequency of the memory and GPU of the video card, we can force the video card to increase the clock speed per second.

OriginalThis sampledispersed
Core frequency: 1506 MHzCore frequency: 1506 MHzCore frequency: 1706 MHz
Boost Clock: 1709 MHzBoost Clock: 1709 MHzMax. Overclocking frequency: ~ 2050 MHz
Memory frequency: 8000 MHzMemory frequency: 8000 MHzMemory frequency: 9216 MHz

Our applied setting:

  • Core Voltage: N / A
  • Power limit: 116%
  • Pace.limit: 92C
  • Core frequency: + 200
  • Memory frequency: +600 MHz (= 9.2 GHz effective data transfer rate)

After overclocking, keep this in mind: due to the dynamic nature of the boost clock, your clock is not fixed. Limiters and monitors for temperature, load, power and voltage will constantly change the maximum state of the clock. For most founder cards, they will all be the same, probably for board partners as well. Right now, I am predicting that most GeForce GTX 1060 cards will run at around 2 GHz from 0 to 2.1 GHz with a few exceptions. In terms of memory, on average, we feel you should be able to overclock to 9.0 GHz (effective) with some cards running up to 9.4 GHz, depending on quality and a bit of luck.
