How to Disable Microsoft Telemetry Compatibility Service to Reduce Disk Usage

Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry (CompatTelRunner.exe) High CPU and Disk Usage

5. Disable the connected user interface and Telemetry service.

The penultimate step on our list is to disable the Connected Users Experiences and Telemetry service. In fact, it is the name of a single service that serves the same purpose – sending usage data to Microsoft’s servers. Since the Connected User Experiences and Telemetry service starts every time your system boots, we will simply change this value in the settings for this service. If the previous steps did not solve the problem, please try this method below.

    1. Open the Run line by clicking Windows + R keyboard shortcut as we did above. Copy and paste this command services.msc.
    2. Scroll through the list of all services until you find a service named Connected User Experiences and Telemetry.
    3. Right click and select Properties.
    4. In General , click Stop button. Then make sure Launch type modified with Automatically v Disabled.
    5. When finished, click Apply and OK to save the assigned changes.
