Option 1. Disable or uninstall your antivirus
Since the main function of Windows Update Medic is to prevent corruption of system files, some security applications may not be compatible for various reasons. So if you are having high disk usage through the process, you should try uninstalling your third party antivirus and see if that helps you resolve the issue.
Of course, if you’ve already paid for the license for anti-malware software, you would definitely want to keep using it.
