Option 3. Use Disk Cleanup feature
Sometimes the problem comes from a lack of space on your hard drive. We therefore recommend that you use Disk Cleanup to get rid of unnecessary temporary files:
- Enter Disc cleaning in the Windows search box and press Entrance.
- Select your primary drive (C : by default).
- Select the Temporary files in the list by checking the corresponding boxes, then click on Clean up system files.
- In the new window that appears, choose the drive again C :
- Select the files you want to delete and click OK.
Note : If you select to remove Windows update files, you will no longer be able to revert to the previous version of Windows.
Option 4. Suspendre Windows updates
Windows update frequently fails to install all the necessary files. If so, the operating system displays an error message (for example, We were unable to connect to the update service, 0x80242016, or 0x80070020) or just try to download it later. Because of these errors and redownload attempts, the Windows Update Medic service can use a lot of resources.
It is therefore possible to pause all Windows updates and only cancel the action when you want to start the update. That is how :
- Right click on the menu Start and choose Settings
- Go to Update and security
- In the lower part of the window, select the option Pause updates for 7 days.
- Your current updates will be suspended for seven days, or until you click Resume Updates at the same place.
